Bill Baxter

CMSGT USAF William (Bill) E. Baxter (Retired) of Austin, TX, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2015, at the age of 84. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on September 26, 1931 to James H. Baxter and Ethel Irene Green, of St. Louis, Missouri. As a child, he and his parents moved to Edinburg, TX. He graduated from McAllen High School in 1950 and immediately joined the United States Air Force. A year later on June 24, 1951, he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara J. (McClelland) Baxter. They were married for 64 years. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Baxter, three children, daughters Vicki Baxter Brandon, of Kyle and Terri Baxter Pepper of Austin, and one son, Steven Baxter of New Braunfels, seven grandkids and seven great grandkids. He retired after serving his country for 30 years. He was a devoted husband and father and an excellent provider for his family. In addition to his military service, he always worked 2 or 3 part time jobs to make sure his family had what they needed. He belonged to the Masons, the Scottish Rite and the Shriners. While the family was stationed on Okinawa in the late 1960’s, he enjoyed his time as a clown for the Shriners. Bill will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, quick wit and hilarious “one liners”, but most of all, his unconditional love and unwavering devotion to his family.
