TSgt William “Bill” Plunk

 

William “Bill” Franklin Plunk, Sr., 77, passed away Thursday March 5th, 2015 at 0240 hours after a long battle with cancer. He passed quietly at home with his family by his bed. He retired from the USAF in the Aircrew Life Support career field and then spent over 20 years in the Survival Equipment Shop as a Parachute Rigger.

William is a Vietnam Veteran, Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV),

Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Good Sam’s Camping Club (TennTom Travelers).

William enjoyed being outside tinkering in his workshop, volunteering for the DAV, camping with his lovely bride and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Vallie and Charley Plunk.

Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bonnie Plunk, two children- Debbie Howard and William Plunk Jr.; Four grandchildren- Michael (Dannis) Weathersby, Ashley (Chris) Anderson , Samantha and Amanda Plunk; Five great grandchildren- Jake, Ashton, Madison Anderson, Ada Reece and Grey Weathersby; Three sisters -Shirley Babb, Sarah Hamby and Helen Corbin; Three brothers- G.W., Robert and Fred.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the members of the Gentiva Hospice and Diane his nurse. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care over the last month was a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.

Bill will be buried at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of William Plunk, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
