SMSgt Maynard Bradford Fielding, USAF (Retired)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of SMSgt Maynard Bradford Fielding, USAF (Ret.), a devoted husband, father, and retired United States Air Force veteran, on the 9th of October, 2023, at 02:00 in Madrid, Spain.

Known affectionately as “Brad” by his friends and fellow military retirees, he dedicated 26 years of his life in proud service to the Air Force.  Following his retirement, he fulfilled a loving promise to his dear late wife, Maria del Pilar Victoria Fidalgo, and settled in Madrid, Spain.   Brad was preceded in death by his wife, Pilar, who was his ever-supportive partner throughout their shared U.S. Air Force journey.

Brad was not only a dedicated Air Force professional but also an exceptional husband and father.  His unwavering love and devotion were most evident in his tireless care for Pilar during her battle with Alzheimer’s.  He leaves behind a legacy of love and care to be cherished by his four children: Pilar, Michael, Rachel, and Sonia, who will forever remember his guidance and unwavering support as they navigated life’s challenges.

Brad found joy in every moment of his retirement.  He reveled in the pleasures of life, particularly through his passion for sailing and their second home in Malpica de Bergantiños, a picturesque municipality in northwestern Spain within the province of A Coruña and the community of Galicia.  Another of his cherished pastimes included visiting the RAO Post Office in Torrejón de Ardoz, Madrid, where he would reunite with his retired friends from many branches of the U.S. military services.

As he embarks on his final journey, Brad’s family takes solace in the knowledge that he is now at peace, reunited with the love of his life, Pilar.  Maynard Bradford Fielding’s memory will forever remain in our hearts as a testament to his love, dedication, zest for life, and honorable military service to the United States of America.

This notice is sent on behalf of Brad’s family by the Madrid/Torrejón Military Retiree Activities Office.
