In an effort to keep our website fresh, every now and then I like to add something that I stumbled across that I think I should share with members of our website; the following is one of them.
FLY THROUGH THE AIRPORT
Are you a frequent flyer? If you are you might be interested in the following. Even if you don’t fly frequently you could use this when you do fly. How would you like to save precious time navigating airport security? The TSA PreCheck program offers an expedited security screening and doesn’t require passengers to remove shoes, laptops, liquids, belts, or light jackets. In April 2019, 93 percent of PreCheck passengers waited less than five minutes in line, according to TSA. In non-precheck lines, passengers wait less than 20 minutes on an average day.
Joining requires an $85 (for five years) fee, a five-minute application, a 10-minute in-person appointment that includes a background check, and fingerprinting. Once approved, a Known Travel Number will be added to your ticket. It typically takes just days for approval. Check it out by clicking on the following link: https://www.tsa.gov/precheck
And, if you are a member or customer of one of the following organizations, you may qualify to have some or the entire TSA Pre✓® application fee covered or be able to pay with frequent flyer miles/points. Contact your credit card company or loyalty program to learn more.

I just use my Known Travel Number which is my military ID number. My wife also gets TSA Pre.
How are you able to use your military ID number and what is the process to get TSA approval?
When I make the reservation I put it in my profile.
OH, I see how you’re able to do it now. What you are doing is available but only to active duty and DOD civilians. When buying a plane ticket, service members enter their DOD ID number – a 10-digit number that’s on the back of the Common Access Card. Civilian employees enter their DOD ID number as the Known Traveler Number.
What I have posted applies to veterans and retirees.
I’m retired military and am able to do it.
I found out that currently, all forms of military identifications issued with a bar code from the DEERS/RAPIDS programs are REAL ID Act compliant, allowing access to commercial aircraft and government buildings as they do now.
