John D. Weir, 74, beloved husband of 51 years to Luetta “Lou” Oldfield Weir, died Thursday, November 22, 2007 at Lexington Medical Center.

 

Born in Childress, TX, he was the son of the late Dentley Weir and the late Cora Maybelle Spain Weir.  Mr. Weir was a retired Chief Master Sergeant from the US Air Force after 27 years of service.  He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War.  He was a member and former Trustee of Pinewood United Methodist Church, a member and Trustee of the American Legion Post 117, a member of the USAF Aircrew Life Support Retirees group, and a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association.  He was also retired from EMS Chemie after 17 years and was a farmer.

 

Survivors besides his wife include three children, Jay D. Weir (Lisa) of Chapin, Kent D. Weir (Pam) of Pinewood, Lori A. Crews (Doug) of Dalzell;  7 grandchildren, Shawn Crews, Jennifer Weir, Lindsay Crews, Kristin Weir, Jessi Weir, John Dentley Weir, and Laura Weir; one great-granddaughter, Leah Crews; one sister, Nancy Lemons of Bakersfield, CA; one brother, James Weir of Bakersfield, CA; two aunts, Maureen Hale, Virginia Spain; and two nieces, Bonnie and Leslie.
