Mr. Jerome Anthony Reeves was born on August 13, 1962, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Thomas Reeves and Myrna Lois Coleman Reeves.
Affectionately known as “Boonie” and “Tiny” by his family and friends, Jerome received his elementary and secondary education through the Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated with the Arlington Golden Knights Class of 1980.
Following high school, Boonie attended the Indiana University Upward Bound Summer School Program. On September 2, 1980, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was assigned to Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. After completing Basic Military Training in October 1980, he was assigned to the 3344th Technical Training Squadron at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois. Following technical training, he attended the United States Air Force Survival School at Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington.
During his distinguished 22-year military career, Jerome received numerous awards and commendations. Among the highlights of his service was the honor of serving in support of Air Force One during the administrations of Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. Jerome retired from the United States Air Force on September 30, 2002, having attained the rank of Master Sergeant.
Following his military retirement, Tiny continued his life of service by becoming actively involved in his local community. He served as a mentor and head referee for the Washington Youth Football Coaches (WYFC) FARM League and the Sentinels Youth Sports Organization. Although he never had children of his own, Tiny made a lasting impact on countless young athletes, coaches, families, and organizations through his involvement in youth sports.
His influence extended far beyond the football field. Tiny used sports as an opportunity to teach real-life lessons, offer guidance, encourage young people, and model accountability. His presence on the field was unmistakable, but the impact he made beyond the field is the legacy that will continue through the many lives he touched.
Jerome Anthony Reeves departed this life on Saturday, September 5, 2026, following a brief illness. He was 64 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Reeves and Myrna Lois Coleman Reeves.
Jerome leaves to cherish his memory his brothers, Curtis (Vivian) Reeves of Riverdale, Georgia, and Darrell (Texanna) Reeves of Odenton, Maryland; sisters, Karon Reeves and Sherrie Rainey, both of Indianapolis, Indiana, and TuWona Poindexter of Irving, Texas; nephews, Marvin Reeves, Devin (Claire) Reeves, and Mario Rainey; nieces, Carletta Reeves, Keyna (Larry) Layfield, Deitra Jackson, Erika (Mario) Young, Charita Reeves, Sakinna (Clinton) Hunter, Melissa Poindexter, Jasmyn Pepper, and Danielle Davenport; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, friends, fellow veterans, and members of the youth sports community whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
Although Jerome’s earthly journey has ended, his legacy of service continues. He served his country with distinction, his community with commitment, and his family with love. His gentle spirit, generous heart, dedication to others, and unwavering love for his family will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
