I served with the 41RWRW before we transitioned to HQ Air Rescue Service in 1989, August. I was the HQ ARS DOTL Superintendent for almost all the helicopter units from Iceland to the Philippines. which includes Missile site support and the Hurricane Hunters in Kessler and Typhoon chasers in Guam.
I introduced the HEED bottle and worked with the folks at Armstrong labs to establish safety procedures for our pilots and crew members. The NVGs introduced and used in the AF cockpits made a significant difference in the Gulf war.
