Roger May
Retired CMSgt. Roger Delano May, 81, passed away Monday, 14 July 2014 at North Carolina State Veterans Home in Kinston. Chief May was born in Bedford, Virginia on March 4, 1933 to the late James H. May, Sr. and Gladys Padgett May. Having served thirty one years, he began his military career in the United States Air Force in 1953 with the 336th Rocketeers in Korea and retired from the Fourth Fighter Wing at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base which included the 336th Rocketeers. Chief May was a member of the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Chapel, the Seymour Johnson AFB Garden Club, the Retired Military Alliance and the St. Mary’s Blue Crab Camping Club, St. Mary’s County, Maryland. He was a faithful donor of his fresh vegetables to the Soup Kitchen of Goldsboro.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home Rev. Steward A. Smith officiating. Interment was follow at Wayne Memorial Park with full military honors.
Chief May is survived by his wife of fifty nine years, Mary Lou Guy May; his children, John H. May, Donna L. May and Roger D. May, II, all of Goldsboro and Deborah H. Livesay and husband, Cory of Alabama; four grandsons, John H. May, II, Cory Livesay, Jr., Jake May and Michael Livesay, three granddaughters, Jenna May, Cady May and Shelby Livesay and two great granddaughters, Jaeden Moore and Alexis Burgos and one great grandson, John H. May, III. He is also survived by his brother, William W. May and wife Linda of Fredericksburg, Virginia In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James H. May, Jr. and Joseph C. May.
