SMSgt (Ret) Melford “Lee” Wise

Melford Lee Wise, 85, of Brazil, IN passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil. He was born on March 14, 1936, in Indianapolis, IN to John and Esther (Conder) Wise.
Lee is survived by his wife, Lynn Wise of Brazil; son, John Wise and wife Rene’ of Poland; daughter, Tish Goss and husband Kerman of Cloverdale; stepdaughter, Sarah Goff and husband Kenneth of Fairbanks; grandchildren, Mistie Miller, Nikki Medley (Garrett), Robert Wise (Jessica), Amber Pressler (Nick), Jacob Wise (Beth), Autumn Shake (Jimmy), Christy Minton (Jerry), Holly Goss, and Justin Shepherd; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Mitchell Warner; brothers, Alfred Wise and Thomas Wise; and a sister, Patricia Adams.
Lee proudly served in the Indiana Air National Guard, retiring in 1996. He began his career in Indianapolis and transferred to Terre Haute while the base was still being built. He worked in Life Support Operations while he was stationed at Hulman Field. After his retirement, Lee worked as a contractor for Boeing and Lockheed-Martin. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 2 in Brazil.
In his younger days, Lee enjoyed playing golf, softball, and bowling. He even enjoyed scuba diving when he was working in Saudi Arabia. Lee liked to go bird hunting and deer hunting. A history buff, he enjoyed both American history and local history. Most of all, Lee enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lee will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park with military honors provided by American Legion Post 2 of Brazil. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at:  www.roselawnfuneralhome.net
